postmodern peregrine

The other day, someone directed me to this article from the NY Times, posing the question of what we (we Christians, we Christian leaders in particular) can do to avoid the kind of nurnout and despair that seems typical not only of the person who posed this particular question to the NY Times' "Ethicist," but of a lot of folks who hang around religious people and institutions. How can we keep on keepin' on in the business (which is all too businesslike at times) of leadership in Christian institutions?

Two words:

GOOD. BOUNDARIES.

If we take Jesus' sacrifice seriously, Jesus was the last necessary martyr. There were many others who made Jesus' life sacrifice again to underscore that Jesus wasn't kidding, but really, Jesus' was enough. According to Romans 12, we're called to be *living* sacrifices, not living dead. Keep in touch with that abundant life, and your ministry can look like something more than living death.

Blessings, all!

Dylan
